• Crew

  CAPTAIN MARTIN

  Captain Martin started his career on sailboats and later gained valuable experience on various yachts, sailing boats, and catamarans. For many years, he has been navigating the seas and oceans as a professional, licensed Captain. Guests return to charter again because of his positive and cheerful demeanor. Having a prior career in engineering provided Martin with the experience needed to manage and care for the yachts, creating a stress-free and safe charter.

  In addition to sailing, Martin enjoys freediving and swimming to connect with the marine world. In Martin’s words, “Every moment at sea is an opportunity for new experiences and challenges, which I embrace with open arms. I enjoy connecting with people who wish to experience the beauty of the sea and provide them with unforgettable moments through my experience. My passion and love of the sea are the main reasons why I look forward to every new day on board.”

  CHEF SUZANA

  Chef Suzana is a passionate sailor and gourmet enthusiast. Always with a smile on her face and tons of energy, she takes pride in preparing meals for guests with her personal flair. Her love for the sea and nature has been with her since childhood, so she jumped at the chance to live on a sailboat with Martin.

  Suzana learned to cook in her mother’s kitchen, and as a self-taught chef, enhanced her passion with additional culinary courses. She is always trying new recipes, as cooking is a way she expresses herself. Her precision and sense of design are evident in her culinary creations and other aspects of her life.

  Traveling is her passion, but she finds exploring new cultures and flavors not only enriches her life but also inspires new culinary endeavors. In addition to her culinary and sailing adventures, she worked for several years in the service industry, gaining valuable experience in hospitality and understanding the importance of excellent service. Guests appreciate her hospitality, precision, and cleanliness, which have been reflected in their positive guest reviews.

  Martin and Suzana are always ready for new challenges and adventures, as they believe life is best lived fully and passionately.
  In addition to their roles as Captain and Chef on charter yachts, they owned a beautiful Beneteau 345 sailboat for five years, which they sailed extensively from Greece to Italy, Spain, the Canary Islands, and back to Spain via Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia. They have also sailed and explored Australia, French Polynesia, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean Sea, the Adriatic Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Aegean Sea. Exploring new places inspires them as a couple as they discover the true freedom and beauty of the sea.

  Amazing Sailing Adventure

  We just returned from a wonderful 7-day sail in the Exumas on The Penny Jo. Our crew took great care of us. As you can see from the pictures, the food was amazing. Captain made us fresh-baked bread several mornings to accompany Chef's breakfast spread. We floated, snorkeled, paddle boarded, swam with the nurse sharks and pigs! We hope to return again soon.

  Highly Recommend!

  Our experience on the Penny Jo was all anyone could ask for. The catamaran was very comfortable. Our crew, are as advertised- extremely professional with our needs met at all times. Captain is great and Chef is a wonderful chef! Those two catered to our every need for the entire week. I highly recommend both the Penny Jo and this crew.

  A Very Special 40th Celebration

  Just got home from an unforgettable trip on Penny Jo for my 40th birthday celebration. I went with my husband and two other couples and had the best chef and captain taking care of us around the clock! Chef was an amazing cook and Captain was exceptional with sharing the history of the beautiful islands and seeking out the best (practically private) islands where we got off the boat to relax on the beach and/or do excursions. We got to swim with the pigs, nurse sharks, turtles and snorkeled around various beautiful areas. The crew made this trip so special for me and I will never forget it! We WILL see you two again. Book the trip - you won't regret it!!

  Amazing

  This was our first time to the Exumas and our first time on a chartered boat. The trip was AMAZING! We are already thinking about when we can come back. I would highly recommend the Penny Jo and the Best crew! Every detail was taken care of for us! The food was amazing! Captain knew all of the best places to go and when to get there for the best experience. It was the perfect combination of rest and sight-seeing in a beautiful setting without any crowds. Five-star experience for sure!!

  Fantastic

  We had a fantastic time with the crew on the Penny Jo. The meals were all wonderful and so were all the sights. From feeding iguanas and pigs to swimming with nurse sharks. The water is so beautiful! Don't forget about the octopus gardens at Highborne Cay. We enjoyed playing "busted" - the dice game with you! Even though you kept the dinghy! Thank you for your Slovenian words Fried Cat!

  Had THE most amazing trip to the Exumas with my daughter and besties, and I have to share because this was everything I didn’t know I needed! At first, I wasn’t sure if this kind of trip was even in our budget, but once we saw everything included—private yacht, personalized excursions, incredible food, and top-tier service—it was worth every penny. The Penny Jo Sailing Charter was modern luxury.  Spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with private bathrooms in every cabin—which, let me tell you, was priceless. No sharing, no waiting, just comfort. And the food? Not basic cruise food. Everything was made from scratch, customized to our tastes, and absolutely delicious. Every meal felt special, prepared just the way we wanted. Mornings with fresh coffee and a stunning sunrise? Perfect. WiFi to handle a few quick work things? Yes, but only until breakfast was ready when we wanted it. The crew treated us like royalty, catering to our every need and making sure we were 100% satisfied. What made it even better was how genuine and effortless their hospitality was—you could tell they truly love what they do, and that energy made the trip even more special. The excursions were exactly what we asked for—just the right mix of adventure and relaxation. Some days, it was peaceful, just us and the endless blue water. Other days, we wanted a little action, and they made it happen. It was the perfect way to unwind, reconnect, and actually slow down for once. Now that my family and friends have seen how incredible this was, they’re already planning the next trip with me. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever set foot on a commercial cruise again. If you ever get the chance, do this.

  Simply Fantastic

  Our sailing trip through the Bahamas, specifically the Exumas, was simply fantastic! We saw so many marine animals, but the highlight for us was definitely the sea turtles. One of the most thrilling experiences was swimming with sharks – truly unforgettable! Onboard, we enjoyed delicious meals prepared by our friendly and attentive stewardess. The experienced captain ensured a safe and smooth journey, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings. A huge thank you to the Penny Jo team for an amazing vacation – we will definitely be back!

  A Dream Come True

  I had an unforgettable week aboard the Penny Jo, exploring the breathtaking Exuma Islands in the Bahamas. The private chef on board was exceptional, preparing a variety of delicious meals that delighted us each day. The ship's captain was equally impressive, sharing fascinating insights into the history of the Bahamas and ensuring we experienced the best the islands have to offer. Some highlights of our trip included visiting Iguana Island to feed the iguanas, swimming with sharks, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, and marveling at a sunken plane resting on the ocean floor. Every moment was an adventure, and the crew's attention to detail made it even more special. If you're looking for a luxurious, fun, and educational getaway, I couldn't recommend the Penny Jo more. This trip was truly a dream come true!

  Unforgettable Trip

  Had the best and most unique experience on Penny Jo Sailing Charters. From when we were greeted at the airport to meeting the sailing hosts, and spending everyday exploring a new island... it was an unforgettable trip. Chef took such great care of us and catered the food to our likings throughout the trip. She always offered drinks and made sure we had everything we needed day and night. Captain was a great adventure guide always kept the days entertaining. He was very knowledgeable about the boat and the islands so we were always in good care and felt safe. I would recommend this charter to anyone and will be returning in the future!
