The Best BVI Restaurants to Visit While on Your Crewed Yacht Charter

CocoMaya – Virgin Gorda 

This restaurant has to be my all-time favorite. You have to see it, to believe it! The food, staff, and location are incredible. The restaurant itself is situated on the beach, and being close to The Baths takes advantage of having the big boulders as a backdrop. Get here to enjoy the sunset looking out towards Tortola with a beautifully crafted cocktail. My favorite is their jalapeno margarita. Once the sun has set, the fire pit and fairy lights are lit to give this place a beautiful chic atmosphere.

The restaurant has a Balinese feel with its exotic timber along with thatched roof. The food brings you flavors of Southeast Asia and Latin America along with Caribbean flare. The menu includes tacos, sushi, chicken skewers, spring rolls and wings. My favorites are the shrimp lettuce wraps, house ribs, and truffle fries.

If you would like to dance in the sand after your meal, they have a resident DJ on the decks Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday nights.

Wonky Dog – Anegada

You cannot go to Anegada without having their famous lobster. Wonky Dog is located along the beach in the Setting Point mooring field. Your Captain will drive you in the dingy from your crewed yacht to the restaurant. Anegada itself has a very laid-back chilled vibe and the staff at this restaurant are super happy, helpful, and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The restaurant has dining in the sand or on the terrace upstairs.

The menu has Anegada lobster cooked in many ways. I would recommend the Iceberg wedge salad and lobster Rockefeller. For those that don’t like lobster, they also have lamb shank, coconut-crusted chicken, and a cauliflower steak. Enjoy a cocktail, beer or wine always served with a smile. 

After dinner dance the night away with your feet in the sand and watch some of the staff do their many fire tricks.

Saba Rock – North Sound – Virgin Gorda

This resort is now brand new and was rebuilt and reopened. The craftsmanship that has gone into creating this new restaurant, bar, and room is truly incredible. Both floors have a bar area with downstairs being where the main restaurant is, right on the water’s edge. Happy Hour is a must, and you are always guaranteed a great atmosphere chatting with fellow crewed yacht guests. The upstairs bar has a lovely lounging area and pool tables to keep the kids entertained.  Around 5 pm most days the staff will feed the large Tarpon scraps of fish from the kitchen, which is always fun to witness. When the sun goes down over the mountains, Saba Rock is a beautiful place to have dinner, while looking out to the lights reflecting on the water from the yachts in the mooring field. 

I would recommend the fresh daily ceviche followed by the lamb rack, washed down with a Bubbly Captain sparkling cocktail. 

Hendos Hideout – White Bay – Jost Van Dyke

Located right next to Soggy Dollar on the beautiful white sands of White Bay, this restaurant is great for a lunch stop. Swim in from your private crewed yacht and grab some food before going next door to spend the afternoon sipping Pain Killers in the beautiful crystal-clear turquoise water. The restaurant and bar are on deck just over the sand and have plenty of shade from the sun. 

Play cornhole on the sand and check out the small boutique to purchase your souvenir T-shirts and hats. 

I would recommend the delirious donkey cocktail. The conch fritters and the white bay wings are a great appetizer to share before a Hendo’s Burger or the Rum and Coke Pulled Pork. The menu has many dishes that will accommodate all palates. The signature cocktail is a Delirious Donkey which is a twist on the Moscow Mule and is delicious. 

Sugar Cane – Virgin Gorda

Built on the grounds of a sugarcane plantation, set on the hilltop above Nail Bay on Virgin Gorda, this restaurant has some amazing views over neighboring Islands with an amazing sunset.
This is a great stop for lunch if you are on a taxi land tour of the island. The restaurant and bar are a great setting for a leisurely lunch, soaking up some rays, and taking a dip in the ocean-facing pool. Their menu consists of pizzas, sandwiches and wraps, salads, and portions of pasta. I love the coconut shrimp and the Island-style Caribbean Pizza. Try their gin cocktail, Berried in the Ruins at Sugarcane! 

Hog Heaven – Virgin Gorda 

Located on the hilltop above Leverick Bay on Virgin Gorda. This popular restaurant provides delicious Caribbean-style BBQ dishes. Mouthwatering ribs, chicken, and pork as well as seafood, burgers, and vegetarian options are among the menu items.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and strive to provide an enjoyable atmosphere. The panoramic views from here are incredible and on a clear day, you can see Anegada! You can get to Hog Heaven by taxi from Leverick Bay, which your crew will organize for you. The ribs are to die for and they go well with one of their painkiller cocktails.

The Dove – Tortola

Based opposite the ferry terminal in Road Town, Tortola, The Dove is a popular dining establishment, known for its Caribbean and international cuisine. Housed in a renovated historic West Indian cottage, It offers a relaxed and casual atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating options.

Enjoy a hand-crafted cocktail at the dragonfly lounge above the restaurant before dinner or enjoy a wine from their extensive list. The Dove is a perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner while exploring Tortola.  Try the seared ahi tuna and the pan-fried chicken supreme. My favorite cocktail is Little Dove.
