A crewed yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands already comes loaded with luxury — your own private crew, chef-prepared meals, and 60 islands on your doorstep. But if you want to take your week from exceptional to unforgettable, these six add-ons are worth knowing about. Each one is something we’ve arranged for guests ourselves, and each one delivers. Private Water Taxi Transfer

A private water taxi whisks guests from St Thomas to the BVI in comfort and style

If you’re flying into Charlotte Amalie Airport in St Thomas, a private water taxi is the smoothest way to start your charter week. Step off your flight and straight onto a high-speed boat at Red Hook — drinks in hand, luggage handled — and arrive at your yacht in Tortola relaxed rather than frazzled from a ferry queue.

We book Island Time for most of our guests. Their fleet has grown significantly over the years and their operation is as polished as any we’ve worked with. Car rental is also available through Island Time if you need ground transport in the BVI.

Bonfire Bliss

Beach bonfire on a white sand beach in Tortola, BVI
A beach bonfire on Tortola — sets the scene for a magical evening ashore

Pick any white sand beach on Tortola. Add a bonfire, a set of chairs, s’mores, tiki torches, and a cooler — and if you have a guitarist in your group, bring them along. Magic happens.

The Bonfire Bliss package handles everything: permits, fire pit setup, firewood for four hours, a table with linens, a music speaker, mosquito and sand fly deterrents, and full cleanup and garbage removal. Nothing for you to organize or worry about.

We can also arrange for Akim Johnson, Tortola’s expert steel pan drum player, to join you for the evening. Akim can also come out to your yacht and play for Happy Hour — one of the most requested extras we offer.

Necker Island Tour

Sir Richard Branson’s private island is one of the most talked-about stops in the BVI — and while guests can’t simply go ashore, there is one way to visit legally and up close. A North Sound-based operator holds exclusive rights to bring guided tours onto Necker Island to see the lemurs, giant Galapagos tortoises, flamingos, and other wildlife that call the island home.

You can meet a boat on Virgin Gorda and travel over, or in many cases anchor or pick up a mooring ball at the Necker Island anchorage and meet the guide directly on the dock. Either way, it’s a genuinely special experience — and the flamingo colony alone is worth the trip.

Kelly's Trip to Conch Mountain, Anegada

Snorkeling the crystal clear waters beside Conch Mountain on Anegada's reef

At the far eastern end of Anegada, on a remote section of Horseshoe Reef, sits Conch Mountain — a vast pile of conch shells accumulated over centuries by local fishermen who return to the same spot to clean their catch. It’s one of the most extraordinary sights in the BVI, and getting there requires local knowledge.

You can’t reach Conch Mountain on a typical charter tender from Anegada’s main anchorage. The reef is challenging to navigate and the distance is significant. Kelly gets you there safely in a fast, purpose-built tender — and the trip includes snorkeling on the reef, lobster hunting, and conch gathering. You can keep what you find. Plan for a half-day, and plan to come back talking about it.

Bonefishing, Anegada

Tarpon in the crystal clear flats of Anegada — one of the Caribbean's premier bonefishing destinations

Anegada has the fourth largest barrier reef in the world, and its shallow, clear flats are widely considered one of the finest bonefishing destinations in the Caribbean. Tarpon, bonefish, and permit all work the flats here — the kind of fishing that draws serious fly anglers from around the world.

If bonefishing is on your radar, Anegada is worth building your itinerary around. We can arrange a guided flats fishing excursion as part of your charter week.

Rendez-Vous Scuba Diving

Rendez-vous diving — the BVI pioneered the concept of dive boats coming directly to your charter yacht

If your charter yacht isn’t dive-equipped, that’s no reason to miss out on the BVI’s exceptional underwater world. The British Virgin Islands pioneered the concept of rendez-vous diving — where a local dive operator pulls up alongside your anchored yacht, kits you up on the spot, and runs your dives while the rest of your group carries on with their day on board.

All gear is provided. After your dives, the boat returns you directly to your yacht. It’s a seamless way to get divers in the water without disrupting the rhythm of the charter for non-divers.

Let's Make It Happen

Any of these add-ons can be arranged as part of your charter booking — just let us know what appeals when you’re planning your week. And if you have something else in mind that isn’t on this list, ask anyway. The BVI’s tourism community is creative and accommodating, and we’ve pulled off some memorable requests over the years.
